Work closely with the media to secure stories and develop relationships with businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders. Manage the flow of work and information to account teams and evaluate and edit the work of assistant account executives and interns.; Perform fundamental PR tasks such as media outreach and press material development. Requires 1-3 years related professional experience, the ability to continue developing media contacts/relationships, and excellent research, writing, and editing skills. Perform fundamental PR tasks such as aiding in production of media-related materials, pitching program highlights to the media, monitoring for quality and quantity of media coverage, and managing client publications and resources materials. Requires 6 months to 2 years related professional experience, the ability to continue developing media contacts/relationships, and excellent research, writing, and editing skills. Must have a solid grasp of all basic public relations tools and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Internet, online services, Factiva, and PR Track. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required. *COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST – For the Community Foundation of Broward in Fort Lauderdale. Create newsletters, periodic communiques, issue briefs, annual report, and press releases. Expand use and impact of a knowledge-based, interactive website and electronic mail for internal and external audiences. Secure coverage of the Foundation in local and national media. Develop relationships with media outlets and reporters. Share media coverage with existing audiences to increase audience awareness of Foundation. Assist all staff members with communication tasks to secure consistent and appropriate Foundation message and positioning. Success will be measured and tracked on results of audience action taken and pre-defined results being achieved. Requires bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or related relevant experience, 2-5 experience in a similar position, excellent writing and proficient editing skills, proficiency with MS Office, understanding and knowledge of public relations principles and public relations plan creation, and excellent customer service skills. Preferred: strong journalistic writing ability, newsletter publishing experience, proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, familiarity with web design products (Dreamweaver, Contribute, Drupal, etc.) and knowledge of HTML. Coordinate media requests and on-island itineraries for both individual and group press trips. Accompany individual or group press trips when needed. Keep ongoing record of all media visits for the day, month and year. Follow up with resorts and agencies after visit to ensure a successful visit. Liaise with air desk to secure travel arrangements for both individual and group trips. Work with PR agencies worldwide to execute strategies, media related queries, events, and visits. Organize press-related events throughout the Caribbean and the U.S., including press conferences and announcements, on-site press events at the resorts, etc. Maintain all press materials. Fulfill all media requests for press materials. Update website information daily, weekly, and monthly when needed. Ensure news releases are up to date on consumer websites, and in press kits. Must be able travel up to 40 percent and be available for last-minute travel. Requires four-year college degree in communications, marketing, or related field and 1-2 years experience in related field.
